PROTEOMIC LABORATORY
ABOUT
LABPROT is dedicated to the application and development of methodologies in the field of proteomics and mass spectrometry, working in doping control, prospecting biomarkers, protein quantitation and characterization of post-translational modifications. It has the newest equipment and a team with extensive experience in proteomics developing and implementing the most modern techniques in this area.
Prospecting for Biomolecules
Using proteomic techniques state of the art to identify biomolecules that have biotechnological interest.
New Methodologies
Development of methods for the identification and quantification of proteins and peptides by liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry and fragmentation of these molecules.
Post-Translational Modifications
Development of techniques proteomic state of the art for the detection and quantification of post-translational modifications.
Determination of Mass
Determine the exact mass of proteins and peptides by mass spectrometry of high resolution.
Bottom-up analysis, Middle- & Top-Down
Analysis of intact proteins and peptides obtained from complex samples or in solution by enzymatic digestion and gel.
Bioinformatics
Use of software for identification and quantification of proteins, determination of functional pathways and obtaining protein-protein interaction networks (connectome).

And holds a BA degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Ceará (UECE). A master's degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Institute of Chemistry (IQ), Department of Biochemistry, with sandwich doctorate in University of Southern Denmark, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Protein Research Group. He did postdoctoral studies at the Department of Biochemistry, IQ, UFRJ, where he also served as a visiting professor. He is a founding member of the Brazilian Society of Proteomics (BrProt), where he serves as treasurer from 2018 to 2020 and served between the years 2012 to 2014. He is currently associate professor of the Department of Biochemistry, IQ, UFRJ. Member of the Proteomics Unit (IQ / UFRJ) the Brazilian Laboratory Doping Control (LBCD) and the Technological Development Support Laboratory (LADETEC). It has experience in Biochemistry, with emphasis on proteomics and Proteomics plants, mainly in the following areas: mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, electrophoresis, one- and two-dimensional protein, post-translational modifications (glycosylation, phosphorylation and acetylation) and quantitative proteomic (label-free and labeldependent). It also has experience in the analysis of peptides and proteins used in doping by nanoLC and LC coupled to a mass spectrometer. He served in the preparation of LBCD for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Rio2016 and participated in the analysis during games.
