ABOUT
The main focus has LABMETA metabolomic analysis of the different biological matrices using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry, high resolution mass. The laboratory employs different tools of chemo- and bioinformatics and multivariate data analysis. It also develops projects in ambient ionization sources area in mass spectrometry. The laboratory covers knowledge from different fields of science, bringing together professionals from different profiles.
Disorder of Human Metabolism
Search for new chemical markers for quick and simple diagnosis of lysosomal storage disorders such as mucopolysaccharidosis and Pompe disease.
Ionization Techniques
Development and application environment ionization sources in mass spectrometry for direct analysis of different types of samples.
Natural Products
Dereplication study of natural products and foods employing modern techniques of metabolomics analysis and processing of data, such as Molecular Networks.
Exact Mass Determination
Analysis by mass spectrometry and high resolution mass accuracy for masses of low molecular weight compounds in synthetic products, primary and secondary metabolites of natural origin foods, etc.

Coordination
Rafael Garrett da Costa
Graduated in Pharmacy with a specialization in Industrial Fluminense Federal University (2007), master's degree in Natural Products Chemistry at the Institute for Research in Natural Products / UFRJ (2010) and PhD in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry / UFRJ (2014) and a Ph.D. -sanduíche at the Center for Research in Mass Spectrometry, York University / Canada. Postdoctoral held at the Chemistry Institute of UFRJ. He is currently Professor of Organic Chemistry IQ / UFRJ, coordinator of the Metabolomics Laboratory (LabMeta-LADETEC / IQ-UFRJ) and vice-coordinator of the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (LABEM-LADETEC / IQ-UFRJ).
