ABOUT
The laboratory conducts research, development and innovation in the field of mass spectrometry coupled or not to different chromatographic techniques. It has experience on the structural elucidation of organic compounds, by-product and contaminant discrimination of different types of samples, as well as providing courses and training in the operation, maintenance and interpretation of analytical instrument data.
Characterization of complex matrices
Determination of the organic components of samples by chromatographic techniques coupled to mass spectrometry and high resolution mass spectrometry.
Courses and training in chromatography and mass spectrometry
Elaboration of theoretical-practical courses for academic community encompassing different chromatographic techniques and mass spectrometry.
Analysis of contaminants and by-products
Chemical discrimination of unwanted compounds in oils, solvents, fuels and reaction products using different mass spectrometry techniques coupled or not to chromatography.
Structural elucidation of organic compounds
Application of mass spectrometry for structural and molecular formula determination of synthesis, natural products and food analysis.
Development of analytical methods
Creation of methods applying hyphenated techniques for determination of components in samples from different matrices.

COORDINATION
Débora de Almeida Azevedo
Titular Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Graduated in Chemistry by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1985), master's degree in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1994) and Post-Doctorate in Environmental Chemistry at the CSIC-Barcelona / Spain (1999). Has experience in the field of chemistry, with emphasis in molecular chemical characterization of oil and bio-oils, in Geochemistry, Trace Analysis and Environmental Chemistry, acting on the following topics: Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry applied in various fields such as Organic Geochemistry Biology , Biogeochemistry, Geochemistry of Oil, Renewable Energy, among others. She has worked for four years as a Deputy Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Organic Chemistry. permanent researcher of the Graduate Program in Chemistry (formerly Postgraduate Program in Organic Chemistry), Institute of Chemistry / UFRJ. She has participated as a collaborating professor of the Graduate Program in Petroleum Systems of PEC / COPPE / UFRJ for 10 years, from 2004 to 2014. Publisher magazine Associated Chemical New for 6 years, October 2008-November 2014. Reviewer of international journals as Analytical Chemistry, Organic Geochemistry, Fuel, Energy and Fuel, Journal of Chromatography A, Science of the Total Environment, Atmospheric Environment, Brazilian Academy of Annals of Science, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Geophysical Research. In 2008 Brazil-Germany held scientific exchange at the Institute of Baltic Studies - IOW the University of Rostock, Warnemuende. Coordinator of several scientific projects financed by CENPES / Petrobras. He has supervised 17 PhD students and 29 master students, post-docs 7, 11 students on completion of course work and 12 graduate Scientific Initiation. H index of 25 in the Scopus database and Web of Knowledge. Scientist of Our State - FAPERJ Notice 2014. Participated in the Olympic team during the XXXI Olympic and XV Paralympic Games in LBCD-LADETEC in 2016. It is now Director Secretary of the Brazilian Society of Mass Spectrometry (BrMASS) period from 2017 to 2019 and scientist of Our State - Notice FAPERJ 2017. More than 100 scientific papers published.
